Instagram gets a bad rap for their support. However, although inexcusable in some cases I’ve come to realize that the platform’s support is not inaccessible but instead they have a very strict process. Admittedly, some support requests do not get the same level of care as others. However, there is some logic to the process. So today, I’m going to walk you through the different methods to contact Instagram support.
Methods to Contact Instagram Support
There are different methods for contacting Instagram support. These methods are primarily based on the inquiry type. For example, a developer query should be sent through the developer channel. Makes sense right? The different methods to contacting Instagram support are as follows:
- Within the Native App
- External Reporting System
- Advertising Support
- Developer Issues
Contact Support Within The Native App
Instagram account holders can use the native app to report issues associated with illegal or unauthorized activity as well, spam, privacy concerns, and actions that violate the platform’s terms of service. You can use the following instructions to contact Instagram support if any of the above-mentioned issues occur.
To report a post:
- Tap  (iOS) or(Android) above the post
- Tap Report
- Follow the on-screen instructions
To report a profile:
- Tap  (iOS) or  (Android) in the top right of the profile
- Tap Report
- Follow the on-screen instructions
Keep in mind that when you report something, your information isn’t shared with the person whose post or profile you’re reporting. In addition to reporting spam or abuse, Instagram outlines different reasons you made need to contact the platform or make a report. These reasons include:
- Hacked Accounts
- Impersonation Accounts
- Underage Children
- Hate Accounts
- Intellectual Property
- Exposed Private Information
- Self-Injury
- Exploitation
- Memorialization
- Blackmail
- Reporting Sex Offenders
You can find step by step instructions on the different steps to take based on each scenario listed above by visiting Instagram’s Support Documentation.
External Reporting System
There is an Instagram contact number which is an automated system which I called for you to verify. But don’t expect that there will be a response for general “I think someone hacked my account” inquiries. Truthfully, Instagram has over 1 billion active monthly users and growing, you can only imagine the queue of people still waiting for Instagram to save their hacked accounts.
If you by chance unlocked a magic cipher and want to report it to Instagram (you might get a call back if you use the number below)
Instagram’s phone number: 650-543-4800 (press 2) – automated support
For all other general inquiries or reports, you can use this external form which is available for people who do not have Instagram accounts
Again keep in mind if you need to make a specific report for issues listed above (e.g. blackmailing, ip visit the support center to locate the correlating contact form)
Advertising Support
Instagram’s advertising support center can be found in two different places. The first section is the older support (Pre-Facebook acquisition) documentation located at the following link
https://help.instagram.com/1415228085373580
The newer ad support location (Post-Facebook acquisition) is located at the following link
https://help.instagram.com/1415228085373580
In addition to this, you can find your individual support inbox for Facebook located at the following link
https://www.facebook.com/support
Note, you should be logged into Facebook before visiting the link. In this inbox, you’ll find messaging regarding report or inquiries related to your Facebook account. Since Instagram ads require a Facebook connection to use it’s possible that ad related messages may also appear in this inbox.
In addition to this, you can also access ad related support via Facebook business manager. Simply log in to your business manager account and click the “report a problem” tab located at the bottom right-hand corner of the page. After which a popup will appear, like that depicted below.
Developer Support
Now let me be clear I’m not a Dev. So there’s that, I’m sure one of the happy DevOps people will leave a comment below on their experiences with Instagram Dev Support. However, there are 2 current avenues you can use to report Dev issues.
One the old way again Pre-Facebook -> Form Located at the link below
https://developers.facebook.com/support/bugs/
The new method Post-Facebook -> Support Portal Located at the link below

Final Thoughts on Instagram Support
While it’s true you shouldn’t believe everything you hear on the internet some sources are relevant to support issues you may be facing. For example, a support forum commonly used by developers for Instagram issues is Stackoverflow . If you’re a marketer , small business owner , or social media manager I recommend adding your favorite Instagram sources (hint hint* like Ampfluence) as a resource to keep you update to date. You can use a tool called (Triberr Curate to Get RSS content of your favorite sources delivered via email daily). Also, subscribe to our newsletter below as we keep a close eye on Instagram changes and routinely send out emails to keep you in the know.
Thanks for reading be sure to share this because sharing is caring. Thx a bunch 🙂Â
One Response
It is always very important for the client that the solution of his problem is fast, and it is really easy to contact the support of the service. To improve the work of call centers, there are now really cool solutions like this voiptime cloud. Of course, there is no single solution for everyone, but optimization from different angles will help achieve the goal.
